Planning & Preparation

I believe a philosophy to teaching is the most vital part of being a professional educator. Some individuals may be more creative, as others may be better behavioral adjusters, but what truly makes them an overall "great" teacher?

For me, teaching goes beyond the physical, everyday routine of the profession. Educators need to have a deep belief that drives them to reach their ideals. Professional teachers will always have the opportunities to contemplate, adapt, and grow within their art, so having a core foundation will help any educator, or student, succeed.

Designing Understanding

Here is an example of learning a new framework and adapting it to my teaching philosophy. The framework is Understanding by Design, from Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe.
